How it works

A single, verified workflow from owner to install.

BidVolt operates the full lifecycle: sales reps qualify and sign building owners, BidVolt verifies the scope and incentive eligibility, the contract is offered on the Marketplace, and the winning contractor delivers the work — backed by a 72-hour post-install inspection.

1

Origination

A BidVolt sales rep visits a commercial building, runs a digital walkthrough (GPS-stamped photos, fixture count, kWh estimate) and gets the owner's signed scope of work. No upfront cost to the owner.

2

Verification

BidVolt confirms utility-program eligibility (PSE&G, JCP&L, NJ SuSI), calculates the stacked incentive ceiling, flags 179D and Tier II eligibility, and assigns a verified project ID before it goes live.

3

Award

Verified contractors hit Buy It Now on a fixed payout, or place a competing bid in the 24-hour auction window. Winner receives the full project documentation and customer handoff instantly.

4

Install & settle

Contractor installs to scope. BidVolt runs a 72-hour post-install inspection. On pass, the customer's escrow releases — contractor paid in 7 days, sales rep commission paid within the same week. Utility rebate filed by BidVolt.

Stack-able incentives in NJ

For most NJ commercial buildings, BidVolt cuts the install bill by 60–90%.

PSE&G and JCP&L pay direct rebates per kWh saved. NJ SuSI pays $0.085/kWh × 15 years on solar. Federal ITC covers 30% of solar capex. 179D pays up to $5.81/sqft on tax-exempt buildings. BidVolt files them all on one project so the owner only sees the net cost.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is BidVolt a contractor or a marketplace?

A marketplace. BidVolt doesn't install anything ourselves — we sign building owners, verify scope, and route the work to a vetted contractor network that competes for it. Customer escrow protects everyone; we only collect when the install passes inspection.

How much does it cost a building owner?

Nothing until the install is complete and inspected. The walkthrough is free. The contract is fixed price (no bid-driven changes). Federal and utility incentives are filed by BidVolt; the owner pays only the net amount after all rebates settle.

What does it cost a contractor?

$499 one-time verification fee. Credited back on your first won job. No monthly fees, no per-bid charges. Optional Pro+ badge ($200/yr) for priority placement and 24-hour early access to new listings.

How does BidVolt make money?

Spread between customer-paid contract value and contractor payout. Sales reps earn 10% of customer price. The rest funds verification, inspections, escrow, and platform operations. Contractors never pay BidVolt a fee on top of their payout.

What's the 179D bonus?

Federal Section 179D pays up to $5.81/sqft on energy-efficient retrofits to tax-exempt buildings (schools, churches, nonprofits, government). BidVolt absorbs the deduction internally and passes a pre-disclosed cash bonus to the owner at close — no marketplace listing, no buyer, no waiting. Details here.

Is BidVolt only in New Jersey?

For now, yes. NJ has the deepest stack of efficiency incentives in the country (PSE&G + JCP&L + ACE + NJCEP + SuSI + state SREC-II + federal). We're focused on operating that stack flawlessly before expanding. NY, PA, CT next.

Two ways to start.
