How BidVolt collects, uses, and protects your data.
BidVolt Marketplace, Inc. ("BidVolt," "we") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information (name, email, phone, role)
- Verification information (license, insurance, EIN, identification documents)
- Property and project information (address, building type, scope of work, fixture inventories, photographs)
- Payment information (processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers)
- Communications you send to us
Information collected automatically:
- Device and usage data (IP, browser, pages visited, timestamps)
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5)
- Geolocation data, only with your permission, to assist in property assessment
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: (a) operate and improve the Service; (b) verify identities, licenses, and insurance; (c) match property owners with verified contractors; (d) process payments and pay commissions; (e) communicate with you about your account, projects, and the Service; (f) prevent fraud and enforce our Terms; (g) comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service:
- With awarded contractors, after award, to enable project completion (customer name, address, scope, walkthrough)
- With service providers who perform functions on our behalf: Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Supabase (data infrastructure), Inngest (job scheduling)
- With utilities, only as necessary to submit incentive applications on the customer's behalf
- To comply with legal process, law enforcement, or to protect rights and safety
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Data Retention
We retain account and project data for as long as your account is active and as required to provide the Service. After account closure, we retain data only as long as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements (typically 7 years for financial records).
5. Cookies
We use first-party cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may impair Service functionality. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including California, the EU, and other regions), you may have rights including:
- Access — to know what personal information we hold about you
- Correction — to fix inaccurate information
- Deletion — to request erasure, subject to legal retention requirements
- Portability — to receive your data in a portable format
- Opt-out of sale — we don't sell data, but if we did, you could opt out

7. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you consent to processing your information in the U.S. and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
